CARTA A UN SER HUMANO - A letter to a human being

Querido ser humano,

Probablemente todos los días recibas cartas como ésta y no les prestes mucha atención. Es normal, con lo ocupados que parecéis estar siempre los de tu especie.

Sólo espero que el hecho de que esta vez sea una perra quien te escribe y, además, lo esté haciendo desde el futuro, te haga pararte a ver qué tengo que contarte. Seré breve y sincera para no abusar de tu generosidad.

Mi dueña está escribiendo esta carta por mí, porque los perros no sabemos escribir a máquina. Ella me adoptó hace unos días en el albergue de la Pontiga. Llevaba allí desde 2010. Aquel año hubo unas tremendas riadas. No eran buenos tiempos, desde luego. Mis cachorros y yo aparecimos llenos de lodo en el río que había un poco más abajo del albergue. Allí nos recogieron, nos secaron, nos llevaron al veterinario, nos desparasitaron, nos dieron cobijo y nos alimentaron. Gracias a ellos hemos vivido hasta ahora. Mis cachorros encontraron familia ese mismo año. ¡Que orgullo el mío al verles marchar con el rabo en alto camino arriba, hacia una nueva vida! Y, finalmente, a mí también me llegó mi segunda oportunidad.

¿Por qué te cuento todo esto? Porque aquel año, la deuda que la Pontiga tenía con el veterinario era muy alta y las voluntarias no tenían con qué pagarla. Y ahí intervienes tú. Tú hiciste entonces una aportación para contribuir a pagar esa deuda. No te importó no conocerme, sólo pensaste que, a pesar de los tiempos que corrían, parte de tu dinero podía servir para ayudar a otros seres vivos que lo estaban pasando peor. Y yo te lo quiero agradecer. Gracias a tu aportación y a la de otros muchos, la deuda se pagó y meses más tarde, cuando me puse malita, me ingresaron en la clínica y me curaron.

Me salvaste la vida, e hiciste posible mi adopción. Por eso quiero darte mis más eternas GRACIAS.

You probably receive letters like this everyday and you do not pay much attention to them. It is understandable, given how busy you, humans always are.

I only hope that this time, the fact that a dog is writting a letter to you from the future will make you stop for a minute to find out what I have to tell you. I will be brief and honest so that I do not take advantage of your generosity.

My owner is writing this letter on my behalf because dogs are not able to type. She adopted me a few days ago at the shelter of La Pontiga. I had been living there since 2010. That year there were big floods. Those were not good times. Me and my puppies appeared covered with mud in the river down the shelter. The people from La Pontiga picked us up there, dewarmed, sheltered and fed us. Thanks to them we have been able to survive up to now. My puppies found a family that very year. I felt so proud of them as I saw them leaving up the path, with their tails up heading to a new life! And, finally, my second chance also came.

Why am I telling you all the above? Because that year, La Pontiga owed a lot of money to the veterinary and the volunteers had no money to pay it. And at this point you appeared. You made a donation to contribute to pay that debt. You did not mind not knowing me. You only thought that, despite the bad times you were going through, a portion of your money could be used to help other living beings that were having even worse times than you. Thaks to your donation, together with many other people`s donations, the debt was paid and, a few months later, when I got ill, I could go to the clinic where they healed me.

You saved my life and made my adoption possible. For this reason my deepest and eternal THANKS
